How do I obtain my certification badges from Acclaim?
After you pass your certification exam, you’ll receive an email from Acclaim with your new badge, usually within two weeks.
You can follow the instructions in the email to accept your badge, and you can access the information here.
If you are having trouble with your Acclaim account, have not received your email or have questions, please contact certifications@pragmaticinstitute.com.
How do I add my certification badges to LinkedIn?
After you pass your course, you’ll receive an email from Acclaim, our certification badges platform. From that email, you’ll be able to accept your badge and share it on LinkedIn.
From the Share Badge page, click on the LinkedIn icon and connect your LinkedIn account.
A screen will appear giving you information on your certification badge for LinkedIn. You can check or uncheck the “Add to my Profile” and “Share to my newsfeed” boxes.
To add your badge to your LinkedIn profile, click the “Share to LinkedIn” button in the lower right corner. This will open a blank LinkedIn form in another tab. Go back to the Acclaim tab and click the “Copy” button next to certification name. Then go back to the LinkedIn page and paste the information into the “Certification Name” field.
Repeat this process for the information on the Acclaim page until all the relevant information has been added. There is no expiration date. Click “Save” when you’ve finished.
Now under “Licenses & Certifications” on your LinkedIn page, you’ll be able to see your Pragmatic certification badges. For more information, visit Acclaim’s website.
I’ve changed companies since I took my Pragmatic training. How do I get my accounts updated?
Please reach out to the registrar at registrar@pragmaticinstitute.com for help merging or updating your accounts.
How long do I have to wait until I receive my digital certification badge?

Who do I contact if I have questions about my certifications/Acclaim?
If you have questions about certification tests, or if you haven’t received a certification you believe you should have, please contact us at certifications@pragmaticinstitute.com.

Employers can use the Acclaim site to find people with the certifications and skill sets they need.
Can my company use the certification in their marketing?
No, only the individual who attended the training and passed the exam can use the certification. However, if the individual is named in company marketing material, use of the certification and logo is permitted for that individual’s biography or professional profile.
My colleagues all received their score via email, but I didn’t even though I took the product exam at the same time they did.
If you did not receive the email at the same time your colleagues received theirs, oftentimes it means Pragmatic Institute does not have your valid email address on file. Please send an email to registrar@pragmaticinstitute.com to verify your email address. Once verified, you should receive your score via email in 24 hours.
I have taken Requirements That Work | Effective Product Management | Product Launch Essentials previously. Can I take one of the new certification exams without attending the new course?
Sorry, you must attend the current course in order to sit for the certification exam.

There is a $25 fee that is nonrefundable and nontransferable for retaking the exam. To retake your exam, please contact our registrar at registrar@pragmaticinstitute.com or at 480.515.1411. The registrar will schedule an hour time slot for testing, and send a calendar invite to you. The testing link will be included in the invite.
When your testing time arrives, a proctor will open the test, and you will use the link in the invite to take the test.
Please note that if you fail the certification exam three times, you will be required to attend the course again before being allowed to retake the exam.
My company hosted the product courses onsite, but elected not to have us take the exams. Can I do so on my own?

So what’s the difference between on-demand courses, live online courses, and in-person courses?
When it comes to what you learn, nothing. We’ve worked hard to provide you with the same great learning, regardless of delivery format.
Depending on how you learn, you might find that one format works better for you than the others. Here are some of the pros and cons of each option:
In-Person Courses:
- Pro: A live instructor guides you through the course and is available to answer questions
- Pro: Lots of networking opportunities during group projects and during the breaks
- Con: Our in-person courses last an entire day, which means you have to plan to be out of the office for a full day per course you register for
- Con: If we don’t have any in-person training events in your area, you may have to travel to another city or state to get the training.
Live Online Courses:
- Pro: A live instructor guides you through the courses and is available to answer questions
- Pro: No traveling involved as classes are solely online
- Pro: Each course is separated over multiple days so you can more easily fit the course into your busy work schedule
- Con: Networking opportunities limited to breakout groups during exercises
- Con: Scheduled times for classes can be difficult for those outside the continental United States and Canada
On-Demand Courses
- Pro: No travel involved as the class is solely online
- Pro: Self-pacing allows you to learn on your schedule, which is ideal for busy professionals and those in areas outside the U.S.
- Pro: As you have access to the course for 12 months from date of purchase, you can refer back to the information in the course whenever you want during that time frame
- Con: No live instructor to guide you through the course and answer questions in real time
- Con: Limited networking opportunities with other students
- Con: Learning is entirely self-motivated, which can be difficult for some students
How do the on-demand courses work?
We designed our on-demand courses to be as intuitive and informative as possible. These courses cover the same concepts, tools and techniques that we do in our popular public and live online courses, with the added benefit of being able to learn at your own pace.
We utilize the latest tools and technology to create an interactive learning experience just as impressive as our public and live online options.
Each course is broken into a series of modules, and each module is made up of videos, interactive exercises, templates and assessments.
In the on-demand course, you’ll also have access to helpful resources so you can make the most of what you’re learning. There’s also a chat section, where you can interact with other students who are taking the same on-demand course as you. There, you can ask questions of your classmates and provide answers and insights from your own experience.
When you complete the final module, you’ll be granted access to the certification exam. This is a 20-question, open-note exam, so you can use your notes to answer the questions.
If you score a 70% or higher on the certification exam, you’ll officially earn the certification badge for your course. Learn more about our coveted certification badges and how they can help your career here.
You set your own pace with this course. And you’ll have access to everything in it for a full year, starting on your purchase date. That means you can revisit the videos, the templates and the exercises over and over again once you finish.
How long is an on-demand course?
There’s a lot of great information in our on-demand course, so you don’t want to rush through it!
Typically, our on-demand courses take about as much time as our in-person or live online courses do, so about 6 hours.
Depending on how quickly you move through the modules, lessons, activities, assessments and assignments, it could take more or less time to complete.
Make sure you give yourself ample time for each module, including the exercises and assessments, and for the certification exam at the end.
How do I start the on-demand course?
After you purchase your on-demand course, you’ll receive an email with your login information.
Click the link provided in that email to access your on-demand course, then use the login information provided to begin learning.
We recommend bookmarking the course page so you can easily access it whenever you want.
You’ll have access to your Pragmatic course for 12 months, starting from when you purchase the course.
Each module and lesson builds on the next, which is why we recommend that you complete them in order.
At the end of each module, you’ll be given a short assessment to help you see what information you should review before moving on.
What system requirements do I need for on-demand courses?
To get the most out of this course, you’ll need:
- Reliable internet access
- Laptop, desktop or tablet
- The ability to play videos
- The latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Flipick or Safari

For data training, we require a minimum of 5-7 attendees for each course.

Selecting a Data Course
What courses should I take?
We offer courses for every level of data experience. So while some data practitioners may need all four courses, others may only need a few.
Take this assessment to see which course is right for you and your current skill level.
Selecting a Product Course
Should I take Foundations before Focus, Design, Build, Market, Launch or Price? What about The Business of Data Science?
Foundations is a prerequisite for Focus, Design, Build, Market, Launch and Price, and those courses were developed to build on the concepts covered in Foundations. If you don’t understand these core concepts, you won’t gain the full benefit for our other courses. It is not currently required for The Business of Data Science.
Which is the right course for me to attend?
Most everybody starts by attending Foundations. Which courses you should take with Foundations depends on your individual area of responsibility, the deliverables you are accountable for and the challenges you face. Click here for help determining which courses are right for you.
How do the courses I already took translate to the current curriculum?
Excellent question, click here for a handy-dandy tool that helps you translate the previous courses into the new curriculum.
Someone recommended a course to me that isn’t listed on your site. Where is Practical Product Management | Effective Product Marketing | Requirements that Work | Product Launch Essentials?
In 2013, Pragmatic Institute went through a reorganization of our curriculum to help make it easier for people to find and attend the courses that would be the most relevant and helpful to them. This change included renaming the courses themselves. To find the courses that best correlate to the ones you’re looking for, click here. To find out more about why we changed our curriculum, click here.
If I took Practical Product Management before, should I take Foundations now?
Foundations is designed to cover many of the core principles of Pragmatic Institute that were previously taught in Practical Product Management, but in a way that is not focused on a specific job title. Therefore, if you’ve previously attended Practical Product Management, much of what you’ll see will be familiar. However, clients regularly tell us that they benefit from multiple viewings of the content. Also, if it’s been a while, a refresher might be helpful since Foundations serves as a prerequisite for all other courses and its concepts are built upon in these courses.
Will I benefit from attending the courses if I don’t work at a software company? How much of the courses focus on software vs. other technology products?
Our courses focus on the need to truly understand the market and the problems it faces in order to create products people want to buy. These products can be any combination of hardware, software and services, because it is not about the technology you use, but the problems you solve.
I’m an executive. Should I attend with my team?

Do I have to take Foundations first?
Foundations is a prerequisite for most other courses. Focus, Design, Build, Market, Launch and Price were developed to build on the concepts covered in Foundations. If you don’t understand these core concepts, you won’t gain the full benefit from our other courses.
What courses should I take?
Everybody starts by attending Foundations. Which courses you should take with Foundations depends on your individual area of responsibility, the deliverables you are accountable for and the challenges you face. Click here for help determining which courses are right for you.
Services & Offerings
Can I access the product tools and templates covered in the courses I’ve attended?
Absolutely. We firmly believe in delivering actionable training, which includes providing the tools and templates you need to implement what you learn. Product alumni are able to access all of these tools in the Pragmatic Institute Alumni Resource Center.
Do you provide consulting services?
Pragmatic Institute’s training is designed to offer you the tools and techniques you need to go back to the office and start making an impact immediately. But, we also offer post-training coaching services for companies looking for help during the implementation process.
Check out Pragmatic Labs, our facilitator-led hands-on workshops that teach your team repeatable skills and turn what they learned in class into action.
The Pragmatic Alumni Community also provides a wealth of resources, connections and events for your team to give them a competitive advantage post-training.

What is The Data Incubator?
The Data Incubator is the leading provider of data science training and education. TDI was founded by Michael Li, a leading data science expert with an impressive pedigree (at 17, he was the youngest person to ever build a fusor desktop nuclear fusion reactor; he has a minor planet named after him; and he has performed with the Oregon Symphony).
As part of Pragmatic Institute, The Data Incubator focuses on a fellowship program to train recent graduates to give them real world experience in data science, as well as placement services, online education and more. Learn more about The Data Incubator.
