When Product Profitability is the Wrong Metric for Success

Companies grow as products grow, and metrics are affected by that. Pendo Founder Eric Boduch and Pragmatic Institute Vice President of Product Steve Johnson discuss the right metrics for determining success … and here’s a hint: It’s not always product profitability.

For example, during the product market fit phase, profitability isn’t your primary goal. You want to know whether you’ve got the right product in the right market, targeted to the right personas. And when you’re growing customers, things like net promoter score, retention and churn are the key areas of focus.

As Eric and Steve walk through each stage of the product life cycle and discuss the respective metrics, you’ll learn the importance of stepping back and really thinking about what you’re trying to accomplish as you establish your KPIs.
