Telemarketing techniques that don't work on me

Telemarketing can be a wonderfully useful tool, but it has gotten a deservedly bad rap. Case in point is a voicemail I received today…
“Hi David, this is Joe. I would appreciate a call back at your earliest convenience at 800-999-9999.”
There’s no compelling reason for me to call, I have no idea what company Joe works for, and I don’t have time to chase people around. Sorry Joe, you lose. If you use telemarketing in your product marketing arsenal, have you taken the time to listen to your telemarketers? You may be horrified. Just saying.
